PROGRAM INFORMATION
This application will educate the AHSTF Board of Advisors about how you and your drama students use creativity and educational resources to make your school’s theatre program excel.

Grades represented in drama/theatre program

Enrollment in drama/theatre program

Plays presented during past three seasons

What is your school’s philosophy towards training students in theatre?
If there is an elective or mandatory arts component in your core curriculum, include course descriptions

What festivals, competitions, or conventions has your school attended/participated in during the past three years?
Include any honors and awards you have earned.

Which show(s) do you think would best reflect your program at an international arts festival? Why?
This does not bind you to that production. Many directors wait until they return from the familiarization trip before committing to a particular show.

Please list some of the colleges and universities attended by graduates of your school’s theatre program.
Emphasis should be on colleges/universities attended by those students who have pursued further education in theatre arts.

Are there any alumni who have found further success in professional theatre? Please detail.

Please list two people familiar with your drama department whom we could contact for a reference.

In your opinion, what sets your theatre program apart from those of other high schools?
Possible inclusions could be community involvement (service projects or special programs for youth, elderly, and/or physically impaired) and school administrator support, as well as your school’s arts curriculum and cross-over with other classes or subjects.

SUPORTING MATERIALS
In past years, some applications have been accompanied by optional inclusions, such as letters of recommendation, clippings, reviews, pictures, résumés, and videos. This is not a requirement for application to AHSTF; however, should you wish to submit these items, please follow the guidelines listed below.  Please include your name and school name with all supporting materials.  All supporting materials must be received by February 6, 2009 at
AHSTF, 590 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911
.

DVDs
Include eight copies of your DVD.  DVDs should be five minutes or less.  Include clips from recent shows, preferably not five minutes of one production.  Optional additions may include an introduction to possible participants through scene work, monologues, or improvisations.  Other additions could be samples of physical production work and introductions of drama faculty.  Please include a list of the show titles and years represented in the DVD.

Clippings, reviews, testimonials and pictures
Limit to ten pages, printed on 8½ x 11 paper.  Submit eight duplicate copies.

Please note: Due to the increasing number of applications we receive each year, AHSTF will not be able to return any supporting materials.

Please contact one of our Admissions Directors with any questions at 888-882-4783: Lauren Coates, Curt Gleeson, Katie Marsh, Amy Broderick, Kameron Lewis, or Erin Searcy.
